Monsieur Deux consists of two boutique gites; both with their own intimate atmosphere and characterized by luxury, freedom and tranquility. You will find us in the delightful French countryside, in the Berry region, just outside Saint Aout. Every Tuesday, Saint Aout hosts the largest market in the region, where the memory of the French writer George Sand is kept alive.

The surroundings of Monsieur Deux are rolling and hilly, ideal to explore by car or bike. You can also explore the area on foot: there are a number of walking routes in the district that take you past meadows, through forests and small neighbourhoods. Golfers can enjoy some nice golf courses in the area.

JOHAN 24 oktober 1961 – 3 mei 2020
Harold and Johan have been living in France since December 2016, together with their two Australian Labradoodles, Durk and Moos. In 2012 they bought La Fermette Lot and since September 2016 also the proud owners of Le Chateau, the house situated next to the fermette.
In October 2019 they moved back to the Netherlands because Johan was diagnosed with cancer. Johan died of this terrible disease on May 3, 2020. Harold promised Johan to continue his legacy.
Monsieur Deux will continue!
‘Johan has been a (photo) stylist, decorator, colour expert and purchasing consultant for various clients for over 25 years. He has worked for retailers, interior design stores, garden fairs, garden centres, training institutions, magazines and private individuals. Johan’s inspiration can still be felt in both boutique gites.’

For quite some time Harold was Production Leader at the Dutch public broadcasting company VPRO and subsequently Executive Producer at various TV production companies. Before moving to France his last job in the Netherlands was Project Agency Manager at NEMO Science Museum.

During the time in France he worked as a Freelance (Marcom) Project Manager, for various clients in the Netherlands. After moving back to the Netherlands Harold is working as Executive Producer at Sarphati Media Productions.
